ABOUT

3 of Cups amplifies the voices of queer and trans black, indigenous, people of color, and other marginalized members of the Houston queer art community through arts programming, social practice, and research driven field-wide cultural work. 3 of Cups derives strength through justice, diversity, inclusivity, and an anti-fascist, anti-racist foundation that is non-hierarchical.

So what do we mean by 3 of Cups?

Our name came from a tarot session where the 3 of Cups card was pulled.  We love the principles of the card which call for a celebration of community, collaboration, friendship, and chosen family.  It means that the resources we need already exist, but we must come together to unlock their abundance. Abundance that is just, care-full, and communal.

The 3 [of] Cups represents our values, Community, Justice, and Care, and its image and intent will be imbued in our future programs as well.

The 3 of Cups tarot card we’ve created is our reimagining of the card from the Thoth deck.  As we grow, we, represented by the passion flower (passiflora incarnata), pour our energy, resources, and collective knowledge into each goblet.  It is our intention that this outpouring of support will create an overflowing abundance for us all.
